Ambition Runs Wild

[School life in the beginning, city life later] [Headstrong heiress x brooding wolfish guy; they save each other] Shi Yun and Zhou Yisui met when they were both at their most miserable. He’d been beaten up, his face bruised, yet he stared at her with a fierce, hostile look. Her clothes seemed completely out of place in this backward little town, but her cheek was swollen. As their eyes met, she held out a bandage to him. Later, she said, “In May, pomegranate blossoms shine bright, and little fruits can be seen among the branches. Zhou Yisui, you were born at such a lovely time of year. How about I give you a pomegranate for your birthday?” That day, he waited for a long time, only to find that she had left without saying goodbye. Shi Yun saw Zhou Yisui again at her neighbor’s house in Meishi. His hostility had faded, replaced by low self-esteem, vulnerability, gloom, and silence. Someone who could shine even buried in the dirt had become the least noticeable person in the room. She helped him get to know the city, return to his studies, and find happiness. She tried to pull him out of the darkness, but to no avail. At last, years later, she became a glamorous CEO: decisive, formidable, and breathtakingly beautiful. He became a beloved superstar, composed and aloof, with everyone clamoring for his attention. With a bright smile, she said, “After all these years apart, we’ve become the people we once admired in each other.” Zhou Yisui raised a hand to cover her reddened eyes, then bent down and kissed the lips he’d yearned for all these years.
