After Being Reborn, I’m Hounded by a Hostage from an Enemy Kingdom

After her kingdom fell, Chu Yi was forced to become Princess Consort of Yu to the enemy nation. She spent two years with Prince Yu, Xiao Yan, secretly plotting revenge and the restoration of her kingdom, only to die at the hands of her own kin. Reborn, she is once again the most honored Sixth Princess in the capital. The harem is rife with schemes, treacherous ministers stir up trouble at court, and the northern tribes watch like tigers poised to pounce. Chu Yi prepares to save her country alone, never expecting... Her father: “My Liuliu has the makings of a great leader. Whoever dares to bully her, I’ll send troops to wipe out their entire kingdom!” Her mother: “Yi’er, are you short on money? Here are the keys to our family treasury. It’s only a few dozen times bigger than the imperial treasury.” Her royal brothers: “Our little sister is going to be the happiest girl in the capital!” * At this point, Xiao Yan is still a lowly hostage from the enemy nation. Remembering all the tonics she drank in her previous life thanks to him, she saves him twice. Who knew he would cling to her from then on? She kills, he finishes the job. She sets fires, he brings the firewood. She holds a collapsing empire together, and he saves its people from peril. When all is said and done, Chu Yi tells him, “Xiao Yan, from now on, we’re even.” But he says, “You’re right, Princess. From now on, we’re ‘in love,’ together morning and night.” * Only later does Chu Yi learn that he brought down an entire kingdom and shed every last drop of blood for her, asking only that she be safe and happy in their next life. (One couple, political intrigue, two formidable leads who dote on each other.)
