From Washed-Up Idol to Global Superstar

The wind belongs to the sky. I borrowed it for a while,

but it stirred up the fireworks of the mortal world.

The songs belong to them. I borrowed them to sing,

but ended up becoming a global icon.

Ten years later, Li Jun had won nine Grammy gramophones and two Academy Awards, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and become the first dancer from the world of pop music to join the Dance Museum.

The world-renowned music magazine NME described Li Jun this way: “King of Pop, the world’s greatest dancer, the king of charity. All these titles are too paltry and one-sided. None can bear the weight of his greatness. He needs no honorifics. His greatest title is simply Li Jun. Say that name, and nothing else needs explaining.”

The international classical music magazine Gramophone praised him: “He was born for the piano. Melody is his soul, rhythm his flesh and blood. Every note he plays is a picture of frozen beauty.”

But the title his fans embraced most was the one bestowed on him by Time magazine: “Li Jun, the idol of the entire world!”
