My Tenderness Is Only for You

[On hiatus for now. Check out the new story on my homepage: a short novel about two people falling for each other, featuring a surgeon and a university lecturer.] At a school-hospital partnership meeting in Linan City, Wen Nian met Gu Sheng for the first time. He had a cool, stern expression and a sharp gaze, yet spoke with exceptional gentleness and a lovely voice. In many people's eyes, he was the strictest graduate adviser at the medical school. Wen Nian even went out of her way to ask about him on the school's confession wall. Whenever she had a night shift, she would sneak into his lectures during the day just to watch him from afar. Gu Sheng, meanwhile, would come up with all sorts of excuses to visit the hospital and keep her company day and night. Then one day, he asked her: “What are you looking for in a partner?” “I don't have much going for me, so my standards aren't high. Someone with an ordinary appearance, preferably a nice voice, whose job or field is similar to mine. Someone who treats me well, loves me, understands me, and makes me feel secure.” “Then what about me? Would I do as your boyfriend? Am I good enough?”
