Forced to Become a Top Player for a House

Ever since Nan Yu retired, Tong Cheng, now an assistant coach, has spent most of his time running to Nan Yu to complain. Like how the manager called them useless. Like how the second team hinted that they were bound to fall apart sooner or later. And how rival teams tried to persuade their players to switch sides. One day, Nan Yu smiled and asked, “Are you thinking about buying a house?” Tong Cheng nodded. “Yeah! I want a fifty-square-meter place.” Nan Yu said, “Aim a little higher. You’ve got a chance to buy a three-hundred-square-meter house now.” Tong Cheng sat up straight. “I’m listening.” “Inherit my position and become CW’s jungle carry.” Tong Cheng: “??? No way!” Nan Yu said, “At my peak, I made half a million a month.” “I bought a house and a car in two years.” Tong Cheng: That’s tempting. Nan Yu pressed on. “Become the best in the country, and no one will dare talk behind your back. Whatever you say goes.” “When you retire, you’ll have plenty of cash to open a shop and live off the profits for the rest of your life.” Tong Cheng: “Fine, I’ll agree.” This is a story about someone forced to do a job. A three-hundred-square-meter house is always running ahead, while someone with the conviction of earning half a million a month keeps chasing after it.
