My Adorable Wife, Please Take Good Care of Me

The first time Xia Xinuo met Li Xiao was at her grandfather’s funeral. He came dressed in gray lay Buddhist robes, offered incense before the coffin, and recited a sutra she couldn’t understand. The second time Xia Xinuo saw Li Xiao was at her engagement banquet. He came wearing the same gray lay Buddhist robes, looking as ethereal as an immortal banished from heaven. As soon as he arrived, he broke the groom-to-be’s leg, then planted a foot on the man’s shoulder and berated him: “You little brat! Who gave you the nerve to set your sights on my woman?” He went on: “One thought can make you a Buddha, and one thought can turn you into a demon. If you won’t help me become a Buddha, I’ll help you become a demon! Let me make this clear: whoever dares lay a hand on my woman, I’ll send straight to the eighteenth level of hell!” After making his threat, Li Xiao grabbed Xia Xinuo and left. The banquet hall erupted in an uproar! They’d seen plenty of people crash a party, but never anyone do it like this. Wasn’t this just outright stealing a bride? The groom-to-be’s family could only watch the bride being snatched away, furious but too afraid to say a word. Li Xiao was the youngest son of the head of Kyoto’s most powerful family, notorious as a devil-may-care troublemaker. Who would dare take him on? But hadn’t this young master put down his blade and become a Buddha a few years ago? He’d been quiet for only a few years, and now he was back to causing trouble, on a particularly grand scale this time. The woman he’d stolen was his former brother-in-law’s son’s fiancée. Everyone exchanged glances, waiting to see how this farce would end.
