Remembering Peach Fruit

In this world, there are immortals, demons, and devils, as well as humans. But there is another life form few know about: a yaoling. The blood of a yaoling can bring the dead back to life. A Tao is a peach tree in her true form, and the only yaoling in the world. Yaoling are born by absorbing the essence of heaven and earth and the spiritual energy of all things, becoming vessels for the fundamental sources of both good and evil. They are beings who are neither wholly righteous nor wholly wicked. “You’re so handsome. I like you.” That was what she said when they first met. “Can you take me with you? I’ll be good.” When he was about to leave, she clung to his leg, looking pitiful. For some reason, he agreed. “Peach blossoms bloom in glorious profusion. From now on, your name is A Tao.” She had no name, so he gave her one. She couldn’t read or write, so he taught her. He belonged to Tianshu Sect, the greatest sect under heaven. He was the sect leader’s most prized senior disciple, and the revered Immortal Kongtong. Young, yet extraordinarily gifted and dazzlingly brilliant, he was expected to become Tianshu Sect’s youngest sect leader. His life had always been cold and solitary. He knew only cultivation, carrying on his master’s legacy, and protecting all living beings, without joy or sorrow. He never expected to meet her. She warmed his heart and his life, and he fell for her without even realizing it. She was innocent and naive, and loved and hated without reservation. But in the eyes of the world, she was still a being who was neither wholly righteous nor wholly wicked. He didn’t believe she would do evil, but before him lay the corpses of every disciple of Tianshu Sect. He still didn’t believe it. He intended to send her away, but she ran back to find him. This time, she never managed to leave again. After that, Tianshu Sect had neither Kongtong Ziheng nor the Immortal Kongtong. A Tao was gone from the world, and no one ever called him Ah Heng again. No one knew where he had gone.
