My Powerful General

We met three times in this life, and each meeting stirred my soul. I count myself blessed to have known you in three lifetimes. The first time, beneath the fading lights at the Jinjiang Lantern Festival, I bought your lantern and gave you my heart. The second time, with the streets packed with onlookers for a grand wedding, I married someone else and wished you a bright future. The last time, the whole nation mourned. After my husband’s death, you came clad as a warrior, wiped out my entire clan, and saved me alone. That night, you played the qin and I danced. We called it a perfect union beneath the cherry blossoms, and you named me Mo Ying.
