It’s Not Easy Being a General

Cast adrift in a chaotic age, her family destroyed and everyone she loves dead, the orphaned girl has nowhere to turn. Fortunately, the old general, sworn brother to her late brother who died on the battlefield, takes her in, and she comes to live at his manor. Upright and refined, beautiful and wise, with a kind heart and gentle nature, she is deeply loved by the old madam. As the old woman lies on her deathbed, she entrusts her with a task: find a suitable woman for the peerless young general, renowned for his bravery and strength, so he can marry, have children, and continue the family line. This task... is no easy feat! The general made a name for himself in his youth, undefeated in battle and victorious on the field, driving back the barbarian enemy. But the whole world knows his one secret: he is terrified of women! The old madam has worried herself sick over it. She has introduced him to countless fine young ladies, but he has approved of not one. The enemy army even devised a plan to send women to the front lines, hoping to scare the general to death. Finding the general a wife... is as hard as wearing a hole through stone with a drop of water, grinding an iron rod into a needle, or making a pilgrimage to the Western Heaven! Grateful for the kindness of the old general and his wife, she resolutely sets out on this long pilgrimage to the Western Heaven. She clears every obstacle along the way, but the general is a diamond unlike any the world has ever seen, and not a single woman meets his standards. After racking her brain, she finally discovers what kind of woman he likes. The qualities match her own almost exactly.
