A Joyful Country Wedding: The Madam Has the Final Say

A rich, beautiful heiress becomes a village girl, with no food, drink, or money to spend? She endures it. Her father is dead, her mother is ill, her brother causes trouble, and her young siblings all depend on her? She endures that too. Her grandparents are vicious, her uncle and aunt greedy, and they’re trying to seize her family's fields and property? If she puts up with any more, she'll turn into a ninja turtle!

She takes the case to the authorities, reclaims her land and property, and beats the bandits until they howl.

She has a knack for both spices and fine food. Rouge, face powder, moisturizer, cleansers, skincare and makeup: she offers the whole package, setting the noblewomen of Great Chu abuzz. Pork jerky, beef meatballs, hot pot, and fish with pickled cabbage take the capital's aristocracy by storm.

Suitors trample the threshold of the Shen family home. Shen Zhiyue has poor eyesight, and somehow she picks Zheng Lan, an orphan who's sickly enough to keel over at any moment. Everyone is waiting for a laugh.

But the ailing Zheng Lan turns his fortunes around, breezes through the imperial exams, and rises to the highest offices of the court.

The brilliant and dazzling chancellor has countless noblewomen in the capital falling over themselves for him. Rumors spread that the young chancellor plans to divorce his wife and marry a new one, a gentle beauty from a powerful family.
