Her Mr. Xu

Everyone knew their boss doted on his wife. He usually hated attending banquets and receptions, but loved going to wedding banquets, where he would ask the newlyweds for wedding candy because his wife liked it. His wife loved literature, so President Xu, who had never once passed Chinese class as a student, opened an online fiction studio. His wife had only graduated from high school and didn’t have much education. In one of her books, she wrote that she regretted never being able to attend college with the person she loved. So President Xu interviewed a university Chinese professor, all so he could give his wife a taste of campus romance. A newcomer asked in confusion, “Is the boss henpecked?” The veteran employees answered in unison, “The boss is the one who spoils his wife.” And the boss’s wife doted on him too. They were as lovey-dovey as could be. I met you at sixteen, and I’ll stay by your side at sixty. I don’t want freedom. I’d rather be bound to you, sharing our nine-to-five days, our sunrises and sunsets, and every day and night.
