The Carefree Tea House of the Zhenguan Era

In the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty, as the stench of blood from the Xuanwu Gate slowly faded, a series of bizarre murders began to unfold in Chang’an. Each victim had been killed by a single stab to the heart. The judicial commissioner, deputy prefect, mayor of the capital, and governor of Yongzhou were all at a loss. When the matter reached the emperor, he was deeply alarmed and summoned the court to discuss it. The ministers had no answers. At that moment, Yao Shi recommended someone, and Li Shimin hurriedly asked who. Li Yaoshi replied, “A carefree wanderer amid the mortal world, a storyteller who lightly waves a paper fan. One cup of leisurely tea makes even ghosts and gods yearn; one pot of rough wine stretches the days and months long.”
