Eternal Youth

When I was a teenager, I too thought the sky was darkest just before dawn. Decades later, I wrote in my diary that the day was like the scarred remains of an old person who had weathered years of hardship, yet still held on to a single glimmer of light that could not be extinguished. It was the end of youth and the beginning of old age. The past plays out before my eyes, scene by scene. Zhiqing said, “I always listened to Mom. I put up with more and indulged you more. I thought that way, we could have a little corner of our own.” Liangjing said, “Only by living without lowering your standards can you keep from slowly losing your color and fading into obscurity.” Always giving way without limits only makes you lose more and more, until all you can do is blame the world.
