The Strongest Buddhist Sect in History

“An old temple where the incense has long since died out, accepting only talented disciples! They must shave their heads and become monks, and most astonishing of all, they have to pay their own entrance fees. At this little temple, lodging costs money, cultivation costs money, and even food and water cost money. And yet, countless people travel thousands of miles to become monks there, bringing enough gold and treasure to pay their way. The temple charges exorbitant prices for incense, and its service is terrible, but worshippers still flock there eagerly, never tiring of it. Good heavens! Has the world gone mad?” Records of Strange Tales from the Martial World
