The Third Wave

This story follows a second-generation migrant from Jiangsu who was born and raised in Xinjiang. After ten years of honing his skills in Guangzhou, he returns to Xinjiang to build a career, starting businesses between Kashgar and Urumqi. The heroine remains single. A representative story of the post-70s generation, it reflects the many experiences people go through as they grow up. With its interwoven threads of entrepreneurship, family, romance, and ethnic identity, this sweeping work of contemporary realism offers a rich portrait of Xinjiang, Guangzhou, and Jiangsu. They say life itself is the best screenwriter and director. This story conveys a philosophy much like that of The Old Man and the Sea: striving is itself a kind of success.
