In the middle and late Qing Dynasty, forced to make a living, Bao Deshan and his family left Zhoucun, Zibo, Shandong, where their ancestors lived. After many twists and turns, they came to the fertile northeastern land and began to lead a difficult life in the mountains and forests. Although they make a living by crafts and farming, the Bao family, which adheres to the concept of being virtuous and loyal to the family, has finally achieved success: after several generations of hard work, they finally bid farewell to the old lifestyle of facing the loess and turning their backs to the sky, working at sunrise and resting at sunset. At the same time, it also reveals that people's destiny is closely related to the times, and the times are the masters of people's joys and sorrows. This work is also a microcosm of the development history of Northeast China in the past 200 years. The whole work is introduced with the old house where the ancestors lived, followed by five parts: "Looking for the Wind", "Getting the Wind", "Backwind", "Fair Wind" and "Long Wind". Taking the development of the times as the main line, it shows people in different eras constantly striving for self-improvement, striving to make progress, and pursuing a better life.
