Green Dawn, Lingering Memories

The rain had poured for days. At last, the elusive silhouette came into focus, but it wasn't him.

When the pain struck right on schedule, the rain did not stop falling.

A wooden stick bore the full weight of that love, grinding again and again against her fragile bones. The pain in her heart far exceeded the physical agony.

She had no strength to fight back and seemed to have accepted the whole situation.

Still, she kept looking toward the far end of the alley. Not because she hoped to escape, but because she was waiting for him to appear at the other end, just as he was supposed to…

She clutched the earring in her right ear. It was the only gift he had ever given her.

Even though her skin was clearly sensitive to metal, she would do anything to feel the warmth of this gift. Now, she seemed willing to risk even her life.

When the pain finally stopped, all that remained was a sharp, piercing voice.

“Lu Jingli, you shameless, disgusting woman. My brother Zhong Qi isn't coming today, so give up already. And don't ever think you can get close to him. You're not worthy! Hmph!”
