Little Sister, the Devil Is Here

She met him when she was six: a cocky little brat, the odd sort who could take a kidnapping in stride. Just as her lonely heart began to feel friendship for him, why did he suddenly choose to leave?

He left no sad farewell message. What he said was truly heartbreaking: “There’s no need. We probably won’t see each other again.”

And so, a page about him found its way into the story of her growing up.

What awful luck! Why did she have to run into a jinx when she was drunk? She got tricked without even realizing it, and got played like a silly little monkey. While he was taking the business world by storm, somehow he always found time to keep her dancing in circles. And that wasn’t cruel enough: why did every woman around him, whether she had a relationship with him or not, treat her like a rival? The arrogant and overbearing type, the fake and vicious type, the scheming and inscrutable type... Was it because she looked so easy to bully? Heaven help her! She swore up and down that she had nothing to do with that demon, so why wouldn’t anyone believe her?

But if this went on day after day, could having nothing to do with each other turn into something more? According to romance-novel logic, if the other person had all the makings of an ideal male lead, along with flawless emotional and intellectual intelligence, could you really guarantee you wouldn’t fall for him?

Now that... was a tough question!

And according to romance-novel logic, if one day she discovered who the strange boy was who had left without a word when she was six, would the plot get so melodramatic that she ended up with him and they lived happily ever after?

Well, you’d have to make sure they could actually fall in love first...

Then, for the sake of a good old-fashioned happy ending, she’d just have to make an effort! (She weeps: Why is the male lead completely unmoved?)

The peacock-like man wipes his brow. “Fine, I’ll try. I’ll do my best to make your lovely dream of a happy ending come true. But first, please work on becoming good enough for me...”

The author weeps and runs off: “That’s an impossible task...”
