Wounded by My Own Heartlessness

That year, she offered herself as the price and became his woman, and the bodyguard to him and his woman. She loved him desperately, beyond all reason. But he was heartless, and time and again he trampled on her burning heart. She knew she could never take her heart back, and only begged to stay by his side, however humbly. But the heartless man gave his heart to her identical twin sister. Knowing she had wronged her sister, she stood where he could not see her and watched over them. Then their happiness was destroyed by her own carelessness, lost beneath the sea. He hated her for it, even though she was willing to pay for her mistake with her life. But he turned a blind eye, while she still loved him, heartless as he was. When her sister returned from the dead, she knew it was truly time to leave, though he had never cared that she existed. “If I die, and you can forgive me, then I’m willing to die.” He shoved her away. She fell to the floor. A sharp pain in her abdomen and a crushing ache in her heart overwhelmed her strength. She collapsed in a pool of blood, and he looked away, letting her bleed. It turned out that even her death could not stir his cold heart. “When I loved you, you didn’t want my heart. Now that I’m ruined, you say you love me? I don’t want your love, and I can’t accept it anymore.” Du Xiaofei could not bear to think back to that night. It had brought her more despair than losing her child. “No, it was always me.” Song Zexi held her fast, shaken. He had never realized how deeply she loved him, so deeply that she could not escape it.
