After years of reading, there aren't many books that I truly like. Even fewer have a heroine with just the right balance of intelligence and personality: she shouldn't be weak and helpless, but she shouldn't be so ruthless that her values are completely warped either. When a story gets that balance right, the character is bound to shine.
