Reborn: The Phoenix Returns

She had enjoyed a life of honor and luxury in her previous life, but had never found anyone who truly cared for her. After her father died, her younger brother bullied her, ruined her marriage prospects, destroyed her reputation, and took her life. Even if she couldn't escape death, she would take the foolish emperor down with her! Reborn, she carefully plotted her revenge for the wrongs of her previous life. People said that when a frail woman turned ruthless, she could be mightier than a battle-hardened general with thousands of troops. With her delicate hands, her frail woman's body, and her merciless heart, she finally avenged herself! She imprisoned the emperor and killed her mother. The wicked empress called her treasonous and said she would surely be punished by Heaven. The princess replied coldly, “You aren't my birth mother. You're only my stepmother.” The emperor called her a venomous viper and swore that even in death he would never let her go, that his vengeful spirit would haunt her for all eternity. The princess sneered. “I'll have you buried beneath a Buddhist temple. Let's see if you can still be reborn.” Scene One “General, it's bad! The Empress Dowager has summoned the princess to the palace!” The general calmly replied, “With the Grand Empress Dowager there, the princess will be fine!” “General, it's bad! The princess had someone beat up the Eighth Prince's consort!” The general calmly replied, “An elder sister-in-law disciplining her younger brother's wife is a family rule. I can't interfere with the royal family's rules.” “General, it's bad! The chancellor invited the princess to a restaurant for dinner...” His fiancée saw them. The general was already gone like a gust of wind, no longer calm at all. Scene Two The princess asked, “Everyone knew I was an idiot back then. Why didn't you refuse the marriage?” The general replied, “My master said marriage is decreed by fate, and you mustn't run from it!” The princess smiled. “Your master was an old friend of my imperial grandmother. Even monks tell lies.” The general nodded. “I know!” The princess sighed. “You knew and still married me, you fool.” His eyes filled with tenderness. “If I hadn't married the you of back then, how could I have found the you of today?” The princess smiled radiantly. “You're quite clever, husband!” The general smiled without a word. Even if he had been a fool back then, meeting her had made him clever.
