Such a sweet little girl, and a friend of their son. She must be his girlfriend, right? The thought occurred to both Gu's parents at the same time, and they scrutinized Lin Momo. His deep eyes fixed on his parents' assessing gazes. He was thoroughly annoyed that Lin Momo was saying whatever she pleased. Excerpt Two "That's her. She's Lin Momo, the one Lawyer Lin kicked out of the house." "No wonder she's so shameless, clinging to Gu Aaron like that." "If a sparrow wants to fly up to a branch, it needs to have some real tricks up its sleeve." At the lavish banquet, Lin Momo looked as beautiful as a princess, but inside she trembled as she listened to people around her sneer at her for reaching above her station. A woman passed by and slapped her without the slightest hesitation. Smiling disdainfully, she sneered, "A sparrow shouldn't expect to fly up to a branch." The contempt in her eyes stung. Lin Momo fled in humiliation, escaping the place that only the rich were allowed to enter. Excerpt Three The room was icy. Mu Rongchen's fierce eyes held a warning. "You brought this on yourself. You have only yourself to blame for trying to marry into the Mu Rong family." Her once-bright eyes now held nothing but hatred. She curled up in a corner and silently cried, too afraid to say a word. The chill seeped into her heart, leaving her freezing all over. "If you want to live, get out of the Mu Rong family now." His cold, merciless words echoed through the bedroom. Mu Rongchen turned away with ruthless finality, his tall figure radiating cruelty. Excerpt Four When she came back after transforming herself, she was no longer the woman she'd once been. She was as regal as a queen. Four years had passed when they met again. Smiling, she said, "I'm sorry, you've mistaken me for someone else." Her voice was cool, and a trace of mockery hid in her lively eyes. His hand trembled slightly. His deep eyes were filled with longing. "Momo, is that you?" "I'm sorry, you've mistaken me for someone else," she said again with a faint smile, her voice cool, then turned away, her graceful figure retreating. This is the third story in the Born to Be a Queen series, a heroine's coming-of-age story. It's warm and romantic, with a little angst, and plenty of handsome men along the way.
