The Ailing Prince's Tender Love for His Scheming Wife

Heard the Prince Rong she was supposed to marry didn’t have long to live? That wasn’t so bad. His family fortune would all be hers. But did he have to be so good to her? He was so good that she couldn’t bear to let him die.

When the legitimate daughter of a prime minister, born under an ill-starred fate, marries a frail prince with little time left to live, she brings him not despair, but a sweet new lease on life.

He loved her deeply and doted on her endlessly, laying the very best at her feet. Yet he wouldn’t touch her, because he couldn’t stay by her side until they grew old together. Someday, she would meet another man who loved her deeply and would spend his life with her, even if the thought made him jealous.

Disguised as a man, she made waves in the business world and had countless men falling at her feet. Little did they know she had searched the whole world over for one reason only: to find a peerless doctor who could cure his chronic illness, so they could spend their lives together.

To the men who kept trying to get close to her, she had just one thing to say: “Can you cure an illness? If not, get lost.”

Scene One:

“Fan’er, what are you doing?” the man asked, somewhat taken aback.

“Sleeping,” the woman replied, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“Your room is next door,” he reminded her.

“But I like this room.” She was clearly being impossible.

“Then I’ll sleep in another room,” he conceded helplessly.

“No!” she insisted.

“Fan’er,” the man said in a gentle voice, sounding both helpless and indulgent, “don’t be childish.”

“I’m not a child. I want to have your children.” Outside the door, the person risking their life to eavesdrop broke out in a cold sweat. The Princess Consort was usually so cool and composed. Who knew she could be this bold?

Scene Two:

One sunny, balmy afternoon, a woman was sprawled comfortably across her husband’s lap, basking in the sunshine, when a thought suddenly occurred to her.

She sat up. “Rong Shu,” she said, fond of calling him by name, “if your illness hadn’t been cured back then, would you really have left me behind?”

“What else could I have done? Taken you with me?”

The woman was disappointed. That was nowhere near the answer she wanted. “You should have said, ‘Even in death, my soul would stay with you forever.’”

The man disagreed. “Wouldn’t you be scared? Besides, when a person dies, that’s the end. How could there be a soul?”

“Honestly, you’re hopeless. Why wouldn’t there be a soul?” The woman lay back on her husband’s lap, shooting him a sidelong glare for good measure.

He laughed and bent down to kiss her between the brows. “Fan’er, I’m so glad I can be with you like this.”

This is a sweet romance with one couple, and both leads are pure in body and heart. Come on in!
