Love Among the Great Houses

The cold mansion was where her nightmare began. “I just want freedom, a simple and peaceful life!” she cried out, struggling furiously. Would she never be able to escape this fate, not even in this lifetime? “Leng Shaochen, if your death could buy back my freedom, then I’d make sure you died a miserable death.” But in the end, her vow could never be fulfilled. She knew this man was poison and that she mustn’t love him, yet she still fell for him. Until he tossed her an invitation card, its red so glaring it hurt her eyes. She left, bearing her wounds. Before they had even healed, she found herself staring at that dazzlingly handsome face. The air would forever be missing his scent. The freedom she had once yearned for no longer seemed so hollow. Without even realizing it, her heart had already followed that devil straight into hell. ★★★ Five years later, he returned reborn, only to see her holding a handsome boy’s hand with her right hand and linking arms with his younger brother with her left. “Ruoruo, it seems five years of peaceful living have made you forget the past.” He watched her with an evil smile. All the color drained from her face as she clutched her son’s hand tightly. “Mommy, who’s this obnoxious guy acting like he owns the place?” her son asked coolly. Mommy? He raised an eyebrow in scorn. She had done quite well without him for five years, even having a son. “Daddy, I want KFC.” At some point, the boy had climbed onto the man beside her.
