The Medical Consort Takes the City by Storm

She was a modern doctor who had transmigrated to another world. To protect herself, she disguised herself as an ugly woman, hoping to build a fortune with her medical skills, live a comfortable life, and protect her mother. But her status-conscious father, scheming stepmother, and spoiled younger sister pushed her straight into a “fire pit.” He was the invincible, undefeated Third Prince, a god of war. After a fire left him disfigured, he became a masked man, his nature changing completely. Bloodthirsty and ruthless, he terrified everyone who heard of him. A carefully plotted forced marriage brought the ugly woman face-to-face with the masked man. On their wedding night, she was left alone. The groom did not come home all night. The next day, his concubine provoked her and treated the prince's official wife like a monkey in a circus. For her mother's sake, and for the money, she gritted her teeth and endured it. So what if I'm a coward? What's wrong with that? By day, she crawled through dog holes in disguise to practice medicine. At night, she stayed shut in her room, concocting her own secret pills. Her days were lively and prosperous, without a ripple of trouble, and she was getting closer and closer to her goal. But then her groom suddenly took an interest in her and waited for her on the wall in the middle of the night. What the heck? Wasn't this man cold-blooded? Why was he suddenly interested in an ugly woman like her? Had he seen so many beauties that he was bored of them? Scene One: After a hard day's work, she returned home to learn that her personal maid had been beaten by a concubine. Gu Ruoya was furious. “If I don't make trouble, do you think I'm a pushover?” She grabbed the homemade explosives she had developed and headed straight to the concubine's courtyard. The moment they met, she slapped the concubine hard, catching her completely off guard. The maids and matrons rushed over to seize her. She gave a cold laugh. “Has the Prince of Tai's household forgotten its rules? Since His Highness is busy with state affairs, I, his princess consort, will have to help him out.” She flicked her hand, sending a white pellet flying at the concubine. After a thunderous blast, the concubine was black as soot. When a certain prince heard about it, the corner of his mouth lifted. He did not even glance at the concubine, whose face was covered in black ash, and said coolly, “She's the princess consort. How you deal with her is her right!” Scene Two: On a dark, windy night, she struggled to carry a sack of flour to the wall outside the prince's residence, hoping to crawl through a hole in it. But someone had blocked the hole. Just as she was about to climb over the wall in desperation, she saw someone sitting astride the top. She had no idea when he had gotten there. He asked leisurely, “What a pleasant pastime, Princess Consort. Do you enjoy climbing over walls in the middle of the night?” The woman felt a wave of despair. It was over. Her secret was out.
