The Peerless Ice Consort

This novel has been added to the Half-Price Book Collection.

When a person has no heart, nothing matters to them. Nothing around them catches their eye, and no sound reaches their ears. Even if hundreds or thousands of people die somewhere, it never touches their heart.

Chang Huan was that kind of person. Her brief life was so tragic that even after she died, people still used her.

“If having no heart could spare me this kind of pain, then I wish I could be without one in every life to come!” That was Chang Huan’s only wish as she died. From then on, she sank into the empty prison of her own world.

In the Netherworld, the young King of Hell ordered her to be reborn. She ignored the only thing she still longed for at the Terrace of Looking Homeward and resolutely drank the Bowl of Forgetfulness, yet even that could not dispel the resentment in her heart.

She was born in a flower-filled valley in some dynasty. The midwife slapped her bottom dozens of times, but she did not cry. Her mother died after giving birth, bleeding to death, but she did not cry. Her father followed his beloved in death, leaving her with only a name, Leng Ruocheng, but she did not shed a single tear.

Afterward, she lived with her older sister. Every day, all she did was stare blankly at the sky. She could not cry or smile, and she did not even care about eating, the most basic thing a person needed to stay alive.

Until she was three, she was the most invisible presence of all. After she turned three, old grudges from her previous life brought disaster upon the family. Her sister and brother-in-law died protecting her and their two young twin daughters. Seeing her two infant nieces crying because they had lost their parents, the three-year-old girl resolutely awoke from her empty world. From then on, she lived only for the two little girls.

Hi! Starting September 14, “Meeting Without Knowing Each Other” has been renamed “The Peerless Ice Consort.” I hope you’ll show some support for a newcomer and my novel!
