Guan Hanqing is one of the greatest dramatists and writers in my country, and one of the four great masters of Yuan opera. The most famous of his works is "The Injustice of Dou E", which describes the injustice suffered by an ordinary woman: the young widow Dou E was innocently sentenced to death by the government. Wang Guowei said that "The Injustice of Dou E" "is worthy of being listed among the world's great tragedies." This book includes a total of eight dramas and several sanqu selected from Guan Hanqing's extant works. There are two main criteria for selection: first, it can be confirmed to be Guan's work; second, it is artistically distinctive and has a greater impact. Notes should be kept concise and the original text should not be quoted. Some important words are highlighted for the convenience of readers.

With the establishment and development of the liberated areas, the literary and artistic movement in the liberated areas also flourished. Comrade Mao Zedong's speech at the Yan'an Forum on Literature and Art formulated the line and policies of the revolutionary literature and art movement, and profoundly answered a series of long-standing questions in the development of revolutionary literature since the "May Fourth Movement". As a result of implementing Mao Zedong's literary and artistic line, all aspects of literature and art in the liberated areas have taken on a new look. At the same time, although the environment and conditions of literature in the "Kuomintang-controlled areas" are different from those in the liberated areas, the progressive literary and art circles also have climaxes in lashing out darkness and calling for light, rushing towards New China and towards the great meeting of people's literature and art. Every scholar has his own "history of modern Chinese literature" in his heart. Different people have different opinions and can interpret, discuss, argue, and even be incompatible with each other. In fact, perhaps it is precisely because of the numerous authors and diverse opinions that readers are given the opportunity to judge, choose, and ultimately form their own independent opinions. Therefore, I believe that one should never boast that this series of books is superior to others.

In the summer of 1939, in San Francisco, where the shadow of the war was shrouded, in a house called "Daoan" overlooking the Bay Area, O'Neill, who had already won the Nobel Prize for Literature, began to write the autobiographical play "Long Day's Journey Into Night" that had been hidden deep in his heart for many years. He was determined to tell the secrets of his family in writing without reservation. The past haunted him like a ghost, forcing him to write it down, otherwise he would never have peace. This autobiographical play became O'Neill's masterpiece. At the request of the author, this work was not performed for the first time until 1956 after his death.

The most controversial work "Lolita" by the stylist Nabokov inspired two directors to put it on the big screen twice, and also prompted Nabokov to try to write his only film script. The protagonist, a European immigrant who has received higher education but whose behavior exceeds the moral scope, becomes obsessed with a cute but dangerous and ruthless adolescent girl and begins a crazy love affair. In the book, Nabokov breaks the fixed expression patterns of sex, morality and beauty, and blends the structural and narrative language of the film to form a mischievous fantasy.

This volume includes Chekhov's classic plays "Uncle Vanya", "Three Sisters" and "The Cherry Orchard", sorted by creation time, and includes Jiao Juyin's "The Cherry Orchard\u003E Translation Postscript" written in 1943. Although these three plays have different stories, they all express themes that Chekhov has always been concerned about: he hated the gray people who could be seen everywhere in Russian society at the end of the 19th century, who only used some incoherent empty talk and fantasies about the "future" to enrich their current empty, declining and lazy life.
