How Are Model Workers Made?
Literature劳模是怎样炼成的
Chen Ling
I learned that Mr. Chen Ling, a model traffic policeman in Tonglu, spent nearly 40 years compiling the stories of his time as a police officer. At first glance, there were 1.33 Million words, and I was really amazed. After a closer look at the stories, I was impressed by the personality charm of Officer Chen Ling, and was even more applauded by his continuous writing over time. Afterwards, it was deleted and selected into the book "How a Model Worker Was Made." During this span of nearly 40 years, between the "command station" and the "preaching platform", Teacher Chen Ling used his youth and blood to write a "one policeman, two posts" record without stopping. But many people don't know that while he was dedicated to the cause of the traffic police, this ordinary traffic policeman had six stents on his heart during the years of being exposed to the sun and rain, but he saved countless lives and received numerous banners and awards at home.

In the process of criminal investigation, he gradually discovered that the people here were both familiar and unfamiliar. It turned out that they had another face: the neighbor who lived in the same community turned out to be the main criminal of the tomb robbery group. The Internet cafe owner who helped play games turned into a big drug dealer. A normally gentle middle school physics teacher suddenly killed his depressed girlfriend. The trusted informant came to the police station to report for theft every now and then. After arresting more and more acquaintances, Jiang Shu realized that they were so strange. These stories that happened to acquaintances give people a glimpse of the evil in ordinary life. By remembering them, you can avoid the dangers around you; by understanding them, you can see clearly the fragility of our human nature.

"Embroidered Spring Breeze" is a literary work that reflects the theme of poverty alleviation. "Embroidered Spring Breeze" takes the rural poverty alleviation road of the intangible cultural heritage technique "Shengjing Manchu Embroidered Cheongsam" as its warp, and the grassroots practice of the "first secretary" in the village and the broad masses of farmers as its weft. The warp and weft are intertwined, truly recording the changes of the current rural era, reflecting the difficulty, depth and achievements of poverty alleviation with small incisions and big emotions, weaving and embroidering a field picture of "when the spring breeze rises, all things grow" on the land of Liaoning.

(australia) Bryce Courtney
"April Fool's Day Saying Goodbye" is a life biography written by Australian national treasure writer Bryce Courtney for his son Damon who died young. It is a true story of illness, frustration and anger, as well as courage, struggle and love. Damon was born with hemophilia and his life was much shorter than the average person's. Even more unfortunately, he was accidentally infected with HIV during a routine blood transfusion when he was 17 years old, and was later diagnosed. Suffering from the dual torture of hemophilia and AIDS, he also suffered from mental problems for a time. Despite this, he still worked hard to survive and wanted to live with dignity by his own strength. In his short life, he also enjoyed the love from his parents and two brothers. More importantly, he had love. A girl named Celeste loved and accompanied Damon deeply until the end of his life. On April 1, 1991, Dimon, who was only 24 years old, died of complications. Before his death, he begged his father, a writer, to write his life story into a book. This is the origin of the book "Goodbye on April Fool's Day". In addition to his father Bryce writing most of the chapters, Damon himself (written during his lifetime), his mother Benita, and Damon's lover Celeste also wrote a part each and jointly completed the book. About life and health, family affection and love, reflections on parent-child relationships and fatherhood, criticism of the medical system and bureaucracy... This is by no means a simple biography, it is a work on life issues worthy of everyone's reflection.

Literature你的身体,比你更爱你自己
(us) Michelle Harper
Here are 12 stories about our bodies. The human body has a protective mechanism. Your body, every cell in your body, is trying its best to protect your life and health. Michelle Harper is a female emergency department doctor who has worked in the emergency department for more than ten years. She faces high-risk emergencies every day, and has also seen how powerful the human body is in its ability to repair and protect itself: the girl who had an epileptic seizure had another truth hidden behind the bleeding liver; the skull was hit by a bullet. The only sound a man could make was "Save me! Mom"; the female soldier deliberately concealed being sexually assaulted during service, but her body left traces of abortion; the old man had no pulse or heartbeat, but he resumed breathing 19 minutes later... From a corner of the emergency room, we get a glimpse of society and the true meaning of life. Full of empathy, Harper witnessed from story after story: Doctors play a very important role in the treatment of patients, but it is the patient's own body and will that really play the role of bringing life back to life. In the process of helping patients establish an optimistic mood, the trauma that the doctor did not want to mention was slowly healed. Harper put this two-way healing into writing, telling us how to listen to and talk to the body, and truly learn to love ourselves.

(germany) Natasha Warding
"People can tell where you come from at a glance." "The father is a single tree, living in isolation, and an open fist that may be clenched at any time and fall on his daughter." Following the success of "She's from Mariupol", Natasha Wardin embarked on a journey to trace her father, telling the story of her mother's suicide in 1956. The author longs for a normal life and desperately wants to get rid of her origin as a displaced person, integrate into German society, and escape from her Russian roots. However, her father imprisons her, forbids her to wear red shoes, beats her, and tries every means to keep her away from the German world. The father who frightened her all the time was born in the Tsarist Russia era and spanned almost the entire 20th century. His life has always been a mystery to her daughter: Why did her father refuse to learn German? He could only speak two words, "yes" and "no"? Why did he remain silent about his first forty years in Russia? Through all the silence, somewhere in the shadows, is a tumultuous and appalling history. In the process of trying to find the key to understanding, Natasha used her experience of being homeless and having nowhere to go to write about her father's silence, as well as the contradictions and struggles of the abnormal father-daughter relationship.

铁血初心:昔阳老兵的故事
Zheng Haiming Li Liqiang Editor-in-chief Shi Ying
This is a collection of stories about the growth of many ordinary revolutionary fighters in the practice of long-term struggle. The 20 war veterans from Xiyang are all members of the Communist Party and have participated in the War of Liberation. They have witnessed the broken mountains and rivers and the destruction of their families since they were ignorant teenagers. Therefore, they embraced the belief of saving the country and the people. They experienced the flames of war and narrowly escaped death, and grew into qualified soldiers who showed their swords on the battlefield. And their patriotism has continued into peacetime, and they will continue to play an important role in new eras and new positions. The red spirit is the soul of the nation. Only by keeping in mind the dedication of the revolutionary warriors can we appreciate the hard-won peace and quiet in the years. General Secretary Xi Jinping once proposed, "Let the fire of faith keep burning, let the red gene be integrated into the blood, and let the red spirit inspire strength." This book can provide useful spiritual food for the majority of party members and cadres to make contributions in the new era. This book can also provide a vivid teaching material for the majority of young people to learn patriotic education and inherit the red gene.

"Memory of the Anti-Japanese Alliance" is a trustworthy history of the Anti-Japanese Alliance. It is a rich and emotional work that military writer Jiang Baocai spent many years devoting himself to creating and analyzing the history of the 14-year struggle against the Allied Forces from literary and historical perspectives. Each work is an excavation or even rescue of folk memory. The author did not study historical materials in piles of paper, but went to the battlefields of the past and conducted in-depth interviews with hundreds of veterans - the "living fossils" of the Anti-Japanese War. The author gives the greatest reservation to the narrator's tone, accent, eyes, and body language, and uses his sharp eyes to decipher some historical mysteries. Each work has the author's visit and research, selecting the historical "gold sand" that has been ignored and thrown away, solidifying the little-known historical moments in words, and storing them in the memory bank of the national war of resistance. So there is the story of Yang Jingyu who ran like an ostrich in the mountains and forests, Zhao Shangzhi who was called a hero by the enemy, Zhao Yiman who was a loving mother on the battlefield and the execution ground of the Red Hero, Chai Shirong who looked at his face and disappeared, Chen Hanzhang who returned to his hometown after 70 years of absence, and eight women who jumped into the river to freeze the frame...

Li Yaosha
The author of the first part, Li Yaosha, spent more than ten years searching for and interviewing anti-war veterans and survivors who participated in the Suizao, Hundred Regiment, and Shanggao battles, truly restoring the scenes of the three major wars, and revealing many unknown truths for the first time. The second part tells the story of the more influential defensive battles on the frontal battlefield, including the Battle of Shipai, the Battle of Changde, the Battle of Hengyang, and the Battle of Guilin. Although these defensive battles were fought fiercely and tragically, except for the battle to defend Shipai, the rest failed. The third part tells the story of the Chinese army fighting on three battlefields during the Anti-Japanese War: the battlefield behind enemy lines, the frontal battlefield, and the India-Burma battlefield. This book connects the process of this war through the narrations and memories of many veterans who personally participated in the India-Burma battlefield.

Zamperini was once an incorrigible little devil who did all kinds of evil, but as a teenager, he integrated his rebellious spirit into running and showed his amazing talent in sports. In 1936, Zamperini represented the United States at the Berlin Olympics; he then looked forward to winning the gold medal at the next Olympics and worked hard to do so. However, the outbreak of World War II turned this Olympian into a soldier. An ordinary flight took him on a fateful voyage, and a small life raft led him into an unknown abyss. What awaits Zamperini is the vast ocean stretching for thousands of miles and sharks jumping out of the water from time to time. Hunger, thirst, enemy planes, and even more horrific years as a prisoner of war eroded him. He fought back despair with creativity, and resisted suffering with hope, determination and humor. His fate hangs on the string of will that has gradually worn out...

Qu Quansheng wrote short and medium-length documentary works in the "General Series" in recent years. Some of these works have been published in domestic newspapers and periodicals, while others have not. These stories about the founding generals are all trivial notes about the work and life of some senior PLA generals that Qu Quansheng came into contact with. Now that they are collected and published, it is undoubtedly the best tribute to the high moral integrity of these generals. The documentary literature "Generals of the Western Frontier" published by the People's Liberation Army Literature and Art Publishing House is a painstaking work written by Qu Quansheng, a veteran military writer and former deputy political commissar of the Chengdu Military Region, for readers over a period of three years. It is also a gift to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. This work presents the work, style, and life details of the seven founding generals of the Xinjiang army in the 1970s and 1980s in front of readers one by one.

More than 20 years of experience in treating seriously ill, disabled, paralyzed, and seriously injured children and their families in the pediatric intensive care unit have convinced her that only by accepting the truth and telling the truth can the soul be freed. She taught a dying girl to express her love to her lover by spelling with her eyes. She accompanied the little boy to bid farewell to his sister's body and discussed death with him. She helped the parents of a girl who died suddenly and promised to donate organs. She witnessed the ethical struggle when the medical team decided to terminate treatment... Using many real cases as clues, she told about her bumpy career, taking us into the daily life of the hospital, showing the pain, courage and true feelings of the patient's family, and singing for the little fireflies shining in the long night of adversity.

Generations of Japanese women in the past gave birth to many children, took care of their elderly and demented parents, worked hard to overcome poverty, and quickly ended their short lives... But who said that women are born to be attached to their husbands and contribute to their families? As time goes by, housewives are becoming more and more determined to develop themselves. They are burdened with heavy caregiving pressure, they are bursting with vitality, they have no place to express their depression and have to end their lives... Together, they depict the portrait of modern Japanese women in their old age. How to age with more dignity? Has the "revolution" of wives, mothers, and daughters-in-law succeeded?

There is a child who was diagnosed with Down syndrome with damaged internal organs when she was just born. There is little hope of sustaining life. If you were her parents, a doctor, a nurse, or an outsider who has nothing to do with her, would you choose to save her or let her die? Focusing on the life and death of this child with Down syndrome, Japanese society has launched a heated discussion, questioning the meaning of life, and reflecting on mankind's continuous pursuit of evolution... This is a life rescue race against death. But was the child finally saved?

Back in 1933, in the Berkeley Hills of California, there was a private laboratory filled with rare objects - beakers, microscopes, Bunsen burners and hundreds of books... The owner of the laboratory was Edward Oscar Heinrich, the pioneer of forensic science in the United States. Heinrich was America's first expert witness and solved at least 2,000 cases during his 40-year career. He is good at finding clues, establishing evidence, and deducing the correct answer with a seemingly super-powerful thinking technique. He also pioneered many forensic identification methods that are still in use today, such as blood stain analysis, ballistic analysis, latent fingerprint extraction and analysis, etc., Permanently changing the way criminal investigations are conducted, and is known as the "American Sherlock Holmes". This book combines real cases, scientific investigation, and insights into human nature, recreating that era when technology was far less developed than modern times. Heinrich's great wisdom allows us to understand his profound impact on crime scene investigation and the legal system, examine the chaotic history of criminal investigation, and glimpse the difficult birth of forensic science.

Following the previous part, it tells the complicated story of Du Yuming, Song Xilian, Huang Wei, Wang Yaowu, Shen Zui, Wen Qiang and other generals who were defeated by the Kuomintang in prison. After the transformation of Dan's thoughts, the newly added lower part continues the story of their nearly half-century life after they were pardoned and suffered the impact of the "Cultural Revolution" and experienced the baptism of reform and opening up until the death of the last "war criminal" in the new millennium. The complete book (including the upper and lower parts) can be called a complete history of "reformation" and a true history of human nature. The first part was published thirty years ago and caused a sensation at home and abroad. It was praised as "participating in the chorus of ideological emancipation." Thirty years later, the second part was written, giving a complete answer to history and a complete interpretation of human nature.

This book contains interviews with 16 families with intellectual disabilities who work at Papa John's restaurants. Each family's oral history consisted of interviews and observations. There are generally 2-5 interviews, including interviews with parents, colleagues, and people with intellectual disabilities themselves. Observation is an observation record of the working conditions of a person with intellectual disabilities on a certain day, which is expressed in the form of a table. The interview questions mostly focused on the causes of illness, schooling, employment, marriage and love and other growth issues of people with intellectual disabilities. In the book, we can also feel the most selfless parental love in the world. Most of the 16 families choose to have only one child, and they want to give complete parental love to their mentally retarded children. The family circumstances of these families are very different, but what they have in common is their determination to be responsible for their children's lives and their courage to take responsibility. They do not blame others, but do their best to enable these children to actively integrate into society, not to be disconnected from society, and to master skills and realize their own life value in the workplace.

This volume contains interviews with fifteen Special Olympics coaches. Most of them have been exposed to Special Olympics for many years, have practical experience in training Special Olympics athletes, and are familiar with the development of Special Olympics in China at the grassroots level. Coaches are the link between Special Olympics, children with intellectual disabilities, and their parents. Through studying in special schools and being trained by coaches, children can acquire the basic abilities to participate in social activities. They uphold the belief of "changing a child, warming a family", creating more opportunities and better platforms for all children with intellectual disabilities, so that society can see the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities through sports and be willing to accept them. At the same time, in group life and Special Olympics sports, children's self-reliance is cultivated so that they can succeed, develop, and find opportunities for life to bloom. By interviewing Special Olympics coaches, this book can not only understand the development status of Special Olympics sports in contemporary China, but also speak out for people with intellectual disabilities from another perspective.

In August 2021, the US military withdrew from Afghanistan, and the subsequent "Fall of Kabul" incident caused an uproar in society. The United States launched the war in Afghanistan in October 2001. This war lasted for nearly 20 years and once received overwhelming support from public opinion. Now that the war in Afghanistan has come to an end, it has been recorded as a serious geopolitical disaster brewed by the United States in the 21st century. "The Afghanistan Papers" is an in-depth investigation of the war, revealing the lies, deceptions and truth of the U. S. War in Afghanistan. The United States launches war in the name of counter-terrorism. This is the sanitized official narrative. The author obtained a large number of public internal investigation documents and revealed in this book how the United States fell into a labor-intensive war and was determined to hide the truth of its failure from the public. The "Afghanistan Papers" originally came from the "Lessons Learned" interview transcript compiled by the Office of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction under the U. S. Congress. It was titled "What the United States Needs to Learn: Lessons from the 20 Years of War in Afghanistan" and aimed to examine the reasons for the failure of the U. S. Policy in Afghanistan. The document is more than 2,000 pages long and collects interviews with key decision-makers and those who witnessed the war, including Pentagon officials, military generals, diplomats, businessmen, aid workers, etc. The facts they told are shocking - four consecutive US presidents lied that "the Afghan war strategy is correct and is progressing smoothly," but in fact it was a "nation-building experiment" that seriously failed in Afghanistan.

The "I Came from Xinjiang" series of books is a rare large-scale chronicle of Xinjiang characters. "Xinjiang·Lai" is the fifth book in this series and the final book with a perfect ending. All the protagonists in "Xinjiang Come" are not only from Xinjiang, but also successful people in various fields. Each of them has created or continues to create an extraordinary journey of realizing their dreams. The author re-interviewed 17 ordinary people in Xinjiang who were pursuing their dreams in the mainland, and brought the follow-up stories of their outstanding achievements; 7 film and television celebrities and musicians, including Chen Jianbin, Wang Jingchun, Ma You, and Parhati, personally told their journey from Xinjiang to thousands of households, with twists and turns and unimaginable hardships; 8 successful people from all walks of life in Hong Kong frankly shared their ups and downs of leaving Xinjiang to study and struggle. There is also Tong Liya who sincerely shared in the preface. A total of 33 Xinjiang people who have successfully realized their dreams have brought together a set of touching and inspirational stories. The author of this book, Kurbanjan, is not only the interviewer of these inspirational stories, but also the most sincere "interviewee". At the end of the book, his several self-prefaces and a speech written in Uyghur Chinese style are extremely touching. This is the reason why he was able to persist in completing the five books in the "I Come from Xinjiang" series for more than six years. All the protagonists in "Latin America" follow their hearts and set ambitious goals for themselves, which are difficult enough that most people can't even imagine. On the road to chasing their dreams, they did not rush for quick success, but worked hard, never flinched, never gave up, and unswervingly turned their dreams into reality. The core content of what they say is one sentence: the harder you work, the luckier you will be!
