At the source of the ancient Youxi River, the Zhongdong Chieftain (Appeasement Chief) has experienced hundreds of years of ups and downs, coexisting with other chieftains in the southwest, and together they have performed the wonderful history of the unification of China.

Shadaogou, the source of Youshui River, is an ancient town with a history of more than 800 years. Youshui River flows from north to south close to the town, and the town is built close to the west bank of the river. It is known as "the key point that controls Sichuan and Hunan and guards the throat of western Hubei". Yu Shangzhong, the owner of Yujia Inn by the ferry, wanted to provide food to the Red Army who were besieged by heavy enemy troops in the deep mountains and old forests of the snow-covered mountains. His younger brother sacrificed his young life in order to distract the enemies. The area in western Hunan and Hubei is an old revolutionary area and the red homeland. Countless people have sacrificed their lives for the revolution. This article is just a microcosm of them.

The He Xianggu guerrilla brigade was betrayed by a traitor and was besieged in Hefeng Taiping by Zhang Chaowu, the head of the Kuomintang's security regiment in Shadao, who gathered security groups from several counties in western Hunan and Hubei. Sister He Xianggu died heroically in the battle to cover the transfer of other comrades. Dong Dazhong, the leader of the 4th Squadron, lost contact with the troops during the transfer process. After being injured, he was chased by the security team to Qinjia Mountain at the junction of Hefeng and Xuanen. In a critical moment, he was rescued by Zhao Yan, a young medicine collector. Although Dong Dazhong lost contact with the army, his revolutionary will was not depressed, but he reorganized the Red Army guerrilla brigade. Under his guidance, Zhao Yan and other comrades gradually grew into staunch communist fighters. Later, this lone army operating in the west of Hunan and Hubei received instructions from Comrades He Long and Liao Hansheng, and stayed near Shadao to mobilize the masses and establish a base area. During the battle with Kuomintang reactionaries such as Zhang Chaowu, Zhao Yan discovered a group of mysterious people who were drawing precise maps in the mountains of western Hunan and Hubei under the name of investigation.
