Xu Qianxue (1631-1694), courtesy name Yuanyi, nickname Jian'an, was born in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, and was the nephew of the great scholar Gu Yanwu. In the ninth year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty, he became a Jinshi and was in charge of the Ministry of Punishments. He has written more than thirty kinds of works, including "Du Li Tong Kao", "Zi Zhi Tong Jian Hou Bian", "Jing Yuan Collected Works", etc. He has compiled and engraved "Tong Zhitang Jing Jie" which has far-reaching influence in the history of Confucian classics. The thirty-six volumes of "Collected Works of the Garden" is a collection of Xu Qianxue's poems and essays. It reflects Xu Qianxue's personal life and life, friends, compilations, book collections and engravings in a relatively concentrated manner.
