About This Novel
Xu Qianxue (1631-1694), courtesy name Yuanyi, nickname Jian'an, was born in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, and was the nephew of the great scholar Gu Yanwu. In the ninth year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty, he became a Jinshi and was in charge of the Ministry of Punishments.
