The whole book is divided into two volumes, the first volume is "Jin Ou Que" and the second volume is "Song of Righteousness". The first volume focuses on the dark reality of the Southern Song Dynasty's power and corruption, the corruption of the government, and the dangerous chaos of powerful enemies watching from the side. The second volume mainly shows the heroic struggle of loyal ministers and patriots represented by Wen Tianxiang to save the crisis. This book is a description of historical facts, but it is presented in the form of a novel. It describes the joys and sorrows of the heroes who resisted the Jin Dynasty, and also describes the decadent rule of treacherous ministers. The two clues formed a sharp contrast, making the demise of the Southern Song Dynasty inevitable.
