"Staring into the Abyss" is a novel that combines fantasy, suspense and psychological elements. It is set in the town of Azathoth after the "War of the Rift" and revolves around the experience of the dream guide Morpheus. Morpheus is good at entering patients' dreams and diagnosing and treating mental illnesses through special instruments. However, after taking over the case of the "daydreaming syndrome" of the girl Palika, he was involved in a series of strange events - Palika would murmur "Dogula Magula" when she was ill, and then disappeared suddenly. Similar disappearances occurred frequently in various places in the Rift, and most of the missing persons were related to the Holy Palm Hospital. In order to find out the truth, Morpheus disguised his identity and sneaked into the hospital. He discovered that the Mahakala organization behind the hospital was using "psychostatics" to release "Inkpox" cells and conducting cruel human experiments in an attempt to blur the boundaries between dreams and reality. He ventured into the patient's dream to investigate, but fell into confusion and even faced a "dark projection" similar to himself. In the end, Morpheus disappeared after learning the truth about "Dogura Magura" (from "Hell of the Brain", which represents the nature of dreams outside consciousness) in his dream. Although the missing people returned to normal, they all forgot their key memories, leaving an open suspense.
