It revolves around the fate of this once barren land and uses six animals such as horses, cows, sheep, pigs, dogs, and chickens as its narration. Perspective, with a passionate style, it objectively describes the contemporary Chinese farmers, represented by Chuntu, a college student who returned to his hometown to start a business, and their ardent yearning and persistent pursuit of a better life amidst the turmoil and restlessness, hidden pain and suffering, and expresses the author's deep concern for the fate of contemporary rural China.
