
About This Novel
This is a story about land and a story about dreams. On a piece of once barren land on the old path of the Yellow River, villagers were desperately scrambling to plant it. For this reason, brothers turned against each other, neighbors became enemies, petitioned and complained, and village cadres were dismissed... The novel focuses on the changes in world affairs and the fission of human nature in the transformation of contemporary rural China. It revolves around the fate of this once barren land and uses six animals such as horses, cows, sheep, pigs, dogs, and chickens as its narration. Perspective, with a passionate style, it objectively describes the contemporary Chinese farmers, represented by Chuntu, a college student who returned to his hometown to start a business, and their ardent yearning and persistent pursuit of a better life amidst the turmoil and restlessness, hidden pain and suffering, and expresses the author's deep concern for the fate of contemporary rural China.
