Reform and opening up is a key decision that determines the destiny of contemporary China; it is the only way to develop socialism with Chinese characteristics and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation; it is the road to making our country strong. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, the "Shaanxi Reform and Opening Up Major Events" compiled by the Party History Research Office of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China is a gift to commemorate the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. The book mainly reflects the major decisions and arrangements, important meetings, major events, major work and important activities of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the provincial government since the reform and opening up in the form of chronological entries. This chronicle of major events presents the great achievements that Shaanxi has made since its reform and opening up, and has very important research value and historical material value.

The book "The Development of Shaanxi's Cultural Industry during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan" describes in detail the development process of Shaanxi's cultural industry during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan by collecting historical documents, newspaper materials, memoirs, literary works, pictures and other materials related to Shaanxi's cultural industry during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan. The publication of this book is of great significance for enriching people's understanding of Shaanxi's cultural industry.

In order to objectively record the major events and achievements that Shaanxi has experienced in the process of reform and opening up, scientifically summarize the historical experience of Shaanxi's reform and opening up, and provide reference for the provincial party committee and provincial government's decision-making, starting in 2013, the Party History Research Office of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee organized the party history departments of various cities and counties to jointly carry out the research and compilation of the "Records of Shaanxi's Reform and Opening Up". The research on "Records of Shaanxi's Reform and Opening Up" takes the form of a special topic. Party history departments in various localities mainly determine topics around distinctive major events and major achievements since the reform and opening up. Each topic is based on detailed historical materials, realistically reflects the ins and outs of the subject in question, and makes a scientific analysis of relevant experiences and lessons. The research results of the "Records of Shaanxi Reform and Opening Up" project are released in the form of a series of books. It is planned to publish five books, which will be completed by 2021, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. What is published this time is the first volume of "Records of Shaanxi Reform and Opening Up".
