In the "Continent of Essos", human memory is not a void stream of consciousness, but a substance that can be extracted by the "Weaver" and woven into a physical "memory thread". Memories of different emotions correspond to threads of different materials - joy is warm golden silk, sadness is deep sea blue velvet, and fear is ice-cracked silver thread. These threads can be woven into "memory objects", such as pocket watches that carry childhood, and gloves that store skills. However, every time a memory is retrieved, the corresponding emotional perception will be permanently weakened, and those who over-weave memories will become an "empty shell" without emotions.
