This collection collects reminiscence articles written by old teachers and alumni of the Department of Biology of Zhejiang University and the former Department of Biology of Hangzhou University, recording a short period of relevant history of the development of the Department of Biology of Zhejiang University (1952-1998), and briefly reviewing the scholarship, educational philosophy and "truth-seeking spirit" of the Department of Biology of Zhejiang University advocated by the older generation of educators and scientists such as President Zhu Kezhen and Mr. Bei Shizhang. Through the efforts of Mr. Bei Shizhang's two students: Professor Jiang Ximing, the head of the Biology Department of Zhejiang Normal University, and Professor Chen Shiyi, the former head of the Biology Department of Hangzhou University, as well as many alumni of Zhejiang University, it has been passed on and carried forward in different periods.
