In the summer of 2016, a used bookseller in Panjiayuan, Beijing died mysteriously. A never-before-published notebook of the Republic of China was found at the crime scene. The notes record a series of crime records and mysterious incident investigations during the Beiyang years. Jin Zui, a former friend of the second-hand bookseller, is an urban legend researcher. He discovered that the notebook contains some truths that have been ignored by history, as well as the unknown sides of many prominent figures.
