The "Centenary Anniversary of Mao Dun's Arrival in Shanghai and the 10th National Mao Dun Research Association Annual Conference" jointly sponsored by the China Mao Dun Research Association, Shanghai Writers Association, and East China Normal University was held at East China Normal University in 2016. This conference received more than 100 papers. The collection and publication of the book aims to promote the in-depth development of Mao Dun research and the timely exchange of Mao Dun's research results, carry forward Mr. Mao Dun's literary creation spirit of caring for the world, seeking truth and pragmatism, and serving life, so that Mao Dun research can serve the construction of socialist culture in our country.

This book contains a number of papers written by scholars from the China Mao Dun Research Association, covering areas such as comprehensive reviews of Mao Dun's creation, novel research, literary and artistic thought research, life and thought research, editing and publishing research, etc. It fully demonstrates the academic achievements of Mao Dun research in the new century, and also reflects the trend of further expansion of Mao Dun research in breadth and depth.
