In Morocco in the 1950s, during the political turmoil, a pair of roommates who were once inseparable met unexpectedly in the ancient Moroccan city of Tangier. They tried to rekindle the fire of friendship, but found that the dark and tangled stories behind them were replayed until they went crazy. Alice Shipley is about to become a wife, but her boyfriend dies in a terrible accident. A few years later, when she wanted to leave the past behind and come to Tangier with her new husband John to start over, the last person she expected to meet was her former roommate Lucy Mason. Maybe Alice should be happy. She had yet to adjust to life in Morocco and was afraid to venture into the city's bustling residential areas and face the unbearable heat. Always fearless and independent, Lucy helps Alice get out of her apartment and explore the country. But soon, a familiar feeling began to hit Alice. The man beside her disappeared again, and John was missing. Alice begins to question everything around her, whether Lucy is as dangerous as she thought, or whether it is all just an endless illusion.
