Augie and Me
General Fiction奥吉和我
(u. S.) R. J. Palacio
In the companion piece to "Wonder Boys", Palacio takes us to read the story between Auggie's three friends (Julian, Christopher, and Charlotte) from the perspectives of them respectively. It contains three parts: "Julian Chapter", "Pluto Fantasy" and "Boogaloo". In "Julian Chapter", Julian, the controversial character in "Wonder Boys", finally has a chance to explain. The reasons behind the bullying are revealed, and it dawns on us: In fact, Julian is not a bad boy. "Pluto Fantasy" allows us to see two boys go through a beautiful period of being together at the beginning of their lives. Although they later separated, the beautiful friendship is still worth even a little effort from both parties. From a girl's perspective, "Boogaloo" leads us into the world of the miracle girls behind "Wonder Boys", allowing us to examine the meaning of friendship more deeply: being friendly is not enough, you must become true friends.
