"Private Detective" tells the story of Wu Cheng, a former university professor and former well-known playwright. He quit the theater industry due to a drunken gaffe that led to chaos in the "Guishan Island Incident", and retired to Liuzhangli to work as a private detective. He read newspapers and took on cases at a coffee shop, listened to the politics of A Xinqiao at the car repair shop, and made tea with a fat boy from the police station to develop a relationship.
