Ominous Egg
General Fiction不祥的蛋
(russian) M. Bulgakov
"The Unknown Egg" describes the discovery of a red light with special functions by a zoology professor. The director of the "Red Light" state-owned farm, despite the professor's objections, suggested that the government use red light to develop chicken farming. The farm director was responsible for formulating and implementing the plan and ordering eggs from Germany. However, by some mistake, the farm director received ostrich eggs, python eggs, and crocodile eggs. A few hours after the eggs were irradiated with red light, countless giant ostriches, pythons and crocodiles emerged from their shells and ran rampant everywhere. They devoured the farm director's wife, attacked residents wildly, and then headed towards Moscow, causing panic across the country. The government sent out troops, police and planes, but could not stop these monsters. An unexpectedly strong cold wave suddenly hit, and the ostriches, pythons and crocodiles were all wiped out.

Dog Heart
General Fiction狗心
(russian) M. Bulgakov
"Heart of a Dog" is an absurd satirical novel that reflects the social life in Moscow in the 1920s. Preobrazhensky, a well-known European medical professor, and his assistant Dr. Bormentar conducted a bold experiment in which they implanted the pituitary gland of a dead man into a dog in an attempt to discover the secret that promotes the rejuvenation of the human body. Surprisingly, however, the results of the experiment led to the humanization of dogs. Although this dog that became a human has a human appearance and the ability to speak, it does not have any moral consciousness. He was shameless and obscene, and did whatever he wanted, making the professor's family restless. In the end, he drew a gun and threatened the life of his creator. As a last resort, the professor and his assistant turned him back into a dog again. The writer uses ingenious artistic techniques to integrate reality and fantasy, tragedy and comedy, light humor and bitter irony, and at the same time puts forward a series of major propositions related to the development of human beings.
