Devoted Young Master and Resilient Cinderella
Based on a true story.
When Jiang Yi was nineteen, he met Shen Jiayue. Jiang's father had just been promoted, and Shen saw him surrounded by friends from wealthy and influential families. Jiang was aloof and distant, and she found this haughty young master a little off-putting.
What Shen Jiayue didn't know was that Jiang Yi had been kidnapped by human traffickers when he was three. His buyers treated him badly. When he wanted an orange at six, his foster mother gave him a piece of orange peel. For his seventh birthday, he asked for a toy that cost two yuan, but his foster father beat him instead. By the time he was found and brought home at fifteen, his parents had divorced. He followed his father into the house, only to find it empty and cold, without the slightest sign of life.
When he was sixteen, his mother returned from abroad and threw him a lavish birthday party. At seventeen, she sent him a roomful of luxury goods. But fate had already silently stolen his happy childhood and the maternal love he craved most. His experiences made him worldly beyond his years. He built a high wall of coldness and distance around himself, but no one knew that behind it lay a warm and resilient heart.
When Shen Jiayue was nineteen, she met Jiang Yi. Her father had fallen ill and borrowed more money, and Jiang often saw creditors chasing her down at school. She always smiled and sent them away, which made him curious about her.
What Jiang Yi didn't know was that when Shen Jiayue was three, her father had been one of the area's first property developers. For her fifth birthday, they held a banquet with more than a dozen tables at a five-star hotel. When she was six, authentic Barbie dolls filled an entire row of glass cabinets in her home.
When she was fifteen, her father went bankrupt, owing billions in debt. In a single night, she was left without even a place to live. On her sixteenth birthday, even a twenty-yuan cake was beyond her reach. At seventeen, short on money, she sold her last Barbie doll. After falling from the heights of privilege, she learned to hide her sensitive, vulnerable side behind a bright and cheerful facade.
Jiang Yi and Shen Jiayue were like oppositely charged poles, drawn to each other. They fell in love, then parted. For the next ten years, she remained Jiang Yi's one true love, his cinnabar mole, the one who got away. For the next ten years, Shen Jiayue poured all her devotion into a love that was impossible to forget.
A little scene:
One day, a little after five in the morning, Shen Jiayue woke to the howling typhoon outside. She quietly slipped out of Jiang Yi's arms and drew back the curtains, looking at the distant sea, where the wind was whipping up enormous waves. Unable to fall asleep again, she went to bother Jiang Yi until he had no choice but to make love to her passionately.
