Animal keeper Lin Shian transmigrates into a novel about a Dragon-Proud Protagonist as a cannon-fodder villain. His only purpose is to care for spirit beasts until the protagonist, who will one day fight his way into the Immortal Realm, takes them under his wing and boosts his bking points.
Lin Shian: ...Fine, I guess this is weirdly right up my alley.
Lin Shian gets to work with practiced ease, raising the spirit beasts to be docile and obedient. Only one rescued spirit tiger is an exception. As a cub, it was soft and fluffy, so cute that he spent all day kissing it, hugging it, and lifting it up high. But as soon as its cute phase ended, its true nature came out. At three months, it spent all night making werwer noises. At six months, it demolished the Fated Blessing Hall. At one year old, it swallowed eighty-eight immortal pills belonging to the Celestial Lord.
Every day, Lin Shian is forced to open his eyes and apologize to everyone: "Sorry, fellow immortals! Sorry, Immortal Lords! Sorry, Celestial Lord! I'll make sure to give this little beast a good scolding when we get back!"
The little beast is mischievous and asking for a beating, but whenever Lin Shian thinks of laying a hand on it, it rolls onto its back and gazes up at him with innocent round eyes.
Lin Shian stares at its familiar white-and-brown coloring and falls into deep thought...
Is this freaking thing not an evil beagle?

At last, the Dragon-Proud Protagonist fights his way up to the Ninth Heaven. Lin Shian reluctantly gathers his spirit pets, ready for the protagonist to choose one. Instead, he hears the dreadful news that the Dragon-Proud Protagonist has been beaten to a pulp by his own little beast.
Lin Shian's vision goes black. He scrambles to the scene and drops to his knees before that silver-haired, brown-eyed face, so familiar with its wicked, arrogant charm. "Brother Dragon, please calm down! It's still a child. Don't hold it against him! Since you aren't hurt, why not let him off?"
The man raises an eyebrow, his mischievous smile oddly familiar.
The real Dragon-Proud Protagonist lies to one side, spitting blood and utterly ignored. "Ha. You call that a child?"
All the immortals stare in dumbfounded dog-like shock.jpg. "T-The ancient divine beast Lu Wu?! Immortal Shenshen, you've been hiding your true abilities. We were blind to your greatness!"
Lin Shian: ?!!
#Wasn't he supposed to be the Dragon-Proud Protagonist? How did my beagle send him packing?#
#Sorry, but my beagle looks more like a Dragon-Proud Protagonist#
[Bonus Scene]
After Lin Shian has a little to drink and gets tipsy, something sharp gently nips at the corner of his lips as he drifts in and out of sleep. Then it moves to his vulnerable neck, his chest beneath his clothes, and...
When Lin Shian wakes up with a hangover, his whole body aches. Before he can figure out why, the person standing beside the bed says pitifully, "Master, I made a very serious mistake."
"Oh," Lin Shian says with heartbreaking ease. "Who did you bully this time? Let me think of how to make it up to them."
"The person I bullied was..." The man bends over him, his fingertip brushing Lin Shian's swollen lips, desire surging in his eyes. "It was you, Master..."
[Unbelievably patient, snarky bottom X Evil beagle but loyal dog top]
Reader's Guide:
1. A silly story, with my own take on cultivation.
2. The only source of inspiration for this idea is Journey to the West 0.o
3. The top is always wicked to outsiders, but with his beloved, he's a big tiger who begs for attention and wags his tail.
4. One-on-one romance, both leads are pure in body and heart, they dote on each other, happy ending.
Theme: In my story, you are the protagonist
