He was beaten until he was covered in wounds, and the Joker's laughter was still burned into his memories. She had no superpowers and could not save him. All she could do was secretly bring him a cup of water, wipe away his blood, or soothe him when he was in terrible pain.
However, fate is never kind.
When Jason finally broke free of his chains and returned as the Arkham Knight, he came back consumed by fury and a need for revenge. And she, the person who had once given him warmth, was standing on the opposing side.
