"When you're being robbed, what can your major do for you?"
Lu Nanwei came across this question while taking a break from sending out resumes for fall recruitment.
As she filled out applications for various big tech companies, praying her resume would make it past the first screening, she couldn't help thinking about the answer. She didn't notice that the company at the top of the page had changed. The logo of a sinister game now sat in the upper-left corner: a black skull, weeping bloody tears, smiling at her.
And so, before she had even graduated, Lu Nanwei landed her first full-time job: working for a sinister game disguised as an employee.
She had no idea how she got the job without going through the first, second, third, or fourth interview rounds. But after being driven to desperation by the terrible job market, to the point where she nearly went to work at a bubble tea shop, Lu Nanwei still showed up at the office on time. However, instead of a mentor, she was greeted by a terrifying set of rule-based horror stories.
The perilous games finally made her understand that applied statistics might not help her if she were being robbed, but in the game, all the knowledge she'd learned and the experience she'd gained from modeling competitions were her greatest golden finger:
Talent 1: Probability Foresight
Talent 2: Event (Data) Analysis
While everyone else wondered how to evade the monsters, complete the stage missions, and survive, Lu Nanwei had only one thing on her mind: "Can I list this stage as an internship project on my resume? Could it help me get a job at a major internet company afterward?"
That turned out to be unnecessary. Once Lu Nanwei successfully cleared the sinister game, the rewards from the stages had already carried her to the peak of life. She even started her own sinister game "company," providing internship stamps to university and graduate students who accidentally ended up in the game. In the eyes of the other players, she became a kind and conscientious boss.
