He thought he was a demon.
After all, what else could a humanoid creature covered in black mist, clearly steeped in demonic energy and able to control it, possibly be?
"You say you're a demon?"
The person in front of him seemed utterly incredulous.
"If I'm not a demon, what else could I be?"
"I thought you, the people who brought me back from the crime scene as a suspect, would know better than anyone."
For some reason, the person suddenly calmed down.
"I hope you'll still be able to say that so calmly after you recover your memories and remember me, and everything else."
"Oh, right. I recorded that."
...?
Are we close?
Aren't you interrogating me right now?
What do you mean, you recorded it?
Welcome to the Otherworldly Operations Bureau.
Here, whether you're human, demon, ghost, or monster,
all the wicked things you've done will receive the judgment they deserve.
"So why should I join you?"
"I say you're joining, so you're joining."
"You're not very reasonable."
"I've never been reasonable with you."
Synopsis from the other character's perspective:
That guy suddenly barged into his life, then suddenly disappeared again not long afterward.
He was furious, but there wasn't much he could do about it.
Then, the next time they met, it was at a crime scene they'd been assigned to investigate, where the guy was "taken into custody" as a major suspect.
"You say you don't know me?"
He was so angry he almost laughed.
From head to toe, from the ribbon tying up his hair to the socks on his feet, wasn't every last thing he wore taken from his house?!
Well, look at that, he'd lost his memory again...
Once the guy regained his memories, he would slam the recording of this conversation right in his face.
He still owed him an explanation.

Updates follow the rankings. I'm not a full-time author, so I can't promise a full quota every month.
This story has no outline. I write wherever my thoughts take me.
There's a little logic, but not much. You can read it as if it has none.
I just want to write something I want to write. If you happen to be willing to read it too, I'll be very happy.
If you don't like it, that's my fault. Please leave quietly. Thank you.
