You love her, don't you?
Don't I? Yes, I do. I love... her.
This is a silent tsunami, shackled by blood ties and social convention. The sisters stand watch at the edge of the abyss, each in her own way: the older sister runs out of courage amid words left unsaid, while the younger sister buries her true feelings as she flees in panic. The most agonizing realization comes too late, after death. When the younger sister reads the diary, all those tentative advances, evasions, and forced smiles turn into a heart-wrenching sob: “I loved... her!” Her brother-in-law's perceptive question, “You love her, don't you?” becomes the only echo of this forbidden love.
Theme: Love comes too late. By the time you realize you love her, time has already slipped away.
